We’ve just started creating a brand new project in the automotive sector, a new innovative way dealing with all sorts of car data, technical specs and beyond. We also turned it into a nice NFT collection (if you’re here just for this..scroll down!)
If someone tells you he’s working on a new car database you’d probably say its bullshit. You’d think there’s tons of databases around, tons of places to find brand and model data, images and more. And while thats true to some extend its absolutely not true if you have a deeper look and especially not if you think of technologies like blockchain.
Yes, there are car databases, however none of them are complete or up to date or working worldwide. Offering a database worldwide has its caveats as you have to deal with regional differences but its definitely achievable with modern development approaches.
Today, companies more often have their own data or purchase data from more or less complete sources for really high prices. However, that comes with other issues. There’s not many sourcees you can realiably trust. Theres like a million bogus and fake databases around and thats sadly reality, today.
Each company dealing with car data like car dealers, insurance companies and more run their own databases, update them frequently. Thats a tedious task noone really needs and that shouldn’t be necessary.
If you look for a free to use database, for private or other projects, you’ll even find less. Some database charge high prices for not even up to date or otherwise incomplete data.
Thats where ICDB jumps in.
ICDB — The free to use, blockchain based car database
With ICDB we aim to become that one, worldwide, single source of truth for all data about makes, models, car statistics, images, schematics and everything you might need about a car. The data is all blockchain based, freely available for anyone to use and browse. Additionally we’ll have API’s for corporate use and business purposes. For a fair, low, pay per use price tag.
Today, car data is used by millions of people every day. Some guy looking for his next car, someone doing historic research, used by insurance companies, software companies working on car related tools, car related e-commerce businesses, countless car retailers and a ton more. ICDB aims to support all of them, each with their own unique requirements.
By using ICDB we aim to get rid of all the Excel, CSV or SQL dumps people copy around and cmbine all that into one single source, independent from car manufacturers and working worldwide. Especially if you’re a business with global presence you might love our way of presenting local differences while still keeping the overall look and feel intact!
Translated into all major languages we want to make ICDB available to everyone on this planet. We do know that there’s huge regional differences. Model year’s in US to engines and packages in germany and even more. We know all that and yes…we can do it!

Bringing fun and funding to the project.
The project is blockchain based and thats a good thing to be used for funding aswell. What else can a car database use for funding as a nifty litle NFT project that could easily enough stand on its own.
Our NFT Collection
We’re to create a brand new NFT collection based on the cars you love and own today but also historic and movie cars, the look and feel will be similar to these two lovely cars.
But its not just that. With our NFT collection comes a new gamified experience with three distinct modes.
Top Trumps
Yea you heard it right, you can build a card deck with your cars and play top trumps vs bots and other players. Yes, its the real deal you will win and loose your actual NFTs playing the game!
Complete collections to compete and earn
We will have a ton of collections you can complete to earn money and compete with others. These collections require you to collect various cars. This can be as simple as “collect 3 german cars” but there’s also really challenging ones like “collect 10 yellow supercars” and other collections. Collections can be completed in various ways. Every 5 cards can be traded for a new one to our system. You can trade with other player’s or just sell/purchase on the market.
Get staking rewards the environmental friendly way ;)
The last part is a small yield/staking like module. If you park your car for a set time (30 days for example) you’ll earn rewards based on not using your car. As simple as that.
